whilst on a walk...

yesterday morning i took a walk around my neighborhood. i see this scene almost everyday and have always been attracted to the rusty old arrow sign in front of the little building*. whenever i pass by it, i imagine how i might go about painting that sign on canvas one day. there's just something about it. the rust. the teal-ness. so yesterday morning, with the early-bird sun illuminating the sign to its fullest, i decided it was time. 

*i also noticed that the little building is now for lease. www.3723greenville.com. a perfect place for my new studio! not that i've been looking for a new studio. but, i think this building would be perfect for it. if only...

no, really...sit

3'x3', acrylic on canvas. this one was a bit of a stretch for me. i know it might just look like another chair, but it was a challenge for me to create. i'm trying to get better about not over-working my paintings. i painted this one all in one sitting and used a lot of loose brushwork. i also worked in soft whites and pastels...a color palette i'm not used to working with. looking at it now in the photo, there are a couple of perspective issues i might want to work on...but, maybe i shouldn't let myself....maybe...

art deco continued...




a few months ago i wrote about some art deco samples i was working on for a residential project in north dallas. these are three more pieces that i completed this week for probable use. 

oh, and i did not come up with these ideas all on my own, but re-worked some ideas that they gave me. i cannot take the full credit!
